Dr. Syeda Bakhtawar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM)—the highest credential a dentist can achieve in dental sleep medicine. She has successfully treated thousands of patients with obstructive sleep apnea and snoring using oral appliance therapy, including complex severe cases involving CPAP intolerance.
She considers dental sleep medicine one of the most life-transforming aspects of her practice and works closely with physicians through a collaborative, interdisciplinary model of care. Dr. Syeda regularly receives referrals from sleep physicians, cardiologists, primary care providers, and ENT specialists.
She is also a recognized educator in dental sleep medicine and has lectured nationally and internationally, teaching dentists and healthcare professionals on the diagnosis and management of sleep-disordered breathing.

Dr. Syeda earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League institution, where she graduated at the top of her class with a 4.0 GPA. She received Clinical Honors for excellence in treating complex restorative cases at the Advanced Dental Care Center.
She completed Advanced Education in Implant Dentistry at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and serves as a Key Opinion Leader for J. Morita Cone Beam CT technology, reflecting her leadership in digital dentistry, CBCT imaging, and advanced diagnostics.

She earned Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2004.

Community, Leadership & Personal Life
Dr. Syeda lives in the Newcastle area with her husband and two sons and is grateful to have her extended family nearby. She is deeply committed to community service and has actively supported nonprofit organizations throughout the Greater Seattle area. She has served as a judge for “Most Beautiful Smile” at the Miss Asia Washington Global Pageant and recently participated in a dental mission trip to Santo Domingo, providing dental and oral surgery care to underserved communities.
